Post-Pandemic Plans

Post-Pandemic Plans

A week ago, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper loosened restrictions on the state — now allowing businesses to reopen at increased capacity.

And just a few days ago, it was announced that all people 16 years and older, will be able to sign up for a shot on April 7.

Even more exciting, UNC just opened up their very own vaccination clinic on campus where any student can receive a dose of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

We’re taking steps toward normalcy. The world will most certainly never be the same, but it’s nice to get some semblance of how things used to be and hope that one day, we can all roam freely again.

I, myself, recently received my second dose of the Pfizer vaccine and despite the headache and fatigue am finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

At the end of that tunnel are all the things I can’t wait to do again.

I want to travel. From a previous blog post of mine, you all learned that my trip to Israel got cut short. But my summer study abroad to Rome, Italy was also completely taken away from me. While I don’t think I’ll have other opportunities like those to leave the country, essentially free of charge, it’s in my post-pandemic plans to see more of the world, however I can.

I was never one that liked birthdays. In fact, I actually kind of despise them. But my 21st birthday was lost to the pandemic — I sat alone in bed while suffering a migraine that felt like it would never end. So, weirdly enough, I actually want to celebrate a birthday post-pandemic. Maybe I’ll even have a redo of my big 21st.

It’s been tough to not feel sorry for ourselves throughout this pandemic. Even though we’re aware of the important impact of our sacrifices, it’s natural to want things to be different. But we’re almost there — I can taste it!
